Inside my closet

March 27, 2006

Organising ones’ closet is by far the hardest task specially if u dont have much space. Sometimes I get inspired arranging my closet when I look at beautiful photos from Oprah and Better Homes and Garden.

Lately I tried rearranging my shoe collection (not that I have so many) I threw away some pairs specially my fav pair which I bought from the US two years ago(it was so comfy I wore it everyday for one year). Lacking necessary space, I placed four pairs inside a plastic container which used to be my food containers for noodles whenever we have parties. Now my shoes are neatly arranged inside two big plastic containers.

My next project was my husbands closet. the first step I did when he was away on a business trip was to replace all his hangers with uniform green colors. Initially my maid, placed different colored hangers whenever she does the ironing but somehow she noticed I kept replacing it with green ones. So she got the hang of it after some time. Again in my closet I replaced the multicolor hangers with pink ones. So my husband’s hangers were green and mine were pink.

The following week, i placed all white t shirts together and blue ones together but smehow week after week I have to rearrange whenever my maid goes on her ironing sprees.

I have to admit however that rearranging closets is a therapy for me. I dont know but it keeps my mind off certain things. Sometimes I prefer rearranging closets rather than watching TV. However my closet management activity is not a one time thing I keep on eliminating certain wardrobe from my closet that I am now left with a few wearable(my favorite wear) items.

My Tita Minnie and my Mom usually call me "Always" meaning I always wear the same outfit. Yes I am guilty of being a cheapskate when you talk of buying new dresses that I tend to wear off my favorite dresses until they get tattered and torn. The few good ones that i dont like wearing(usually I wear them only once or twice) are reserved for my sisters or my sister in law when I go home in December.  Due to this arranging and rearranging all my sons shirts are always being given to younger cousins every December or to their school Fund Drive for Recycling or donations to other charities. We have tried joining flea markets sales(so far we have joined 5 such fairs) and my children love them since they get some money selling their used toys and clothes. That is why if you look at my closet you would think I am just a boarder in my own house.
